Taka is a unisex, minimalist line of footwear, apparel & accessories that is designed with the perspective that less is more. 

TAKA SHOES

Taka began with footwear, starting with an abbreviated unisex line of Moccasins and Loafers. Each pair is individually handcrafted through small-batch runs and custom orders. We work with European-trained cobblers based in Los Angeles, providing the precision and expertise needed for crafting heritage shoes at a local level. 

Taka shoes are made from vegetable-tanned Vachetta leather. This is a plant-based, ecological process that preserves the natural quality of full-grain leather and allows for the character to transform over time. The footwear has now expanded to offer a capsule collection that rotates specialty products seasonally. We work with two colorways: an Undyed color which develops a rich patina with use, and our plant-dyed Black color. Processing & dyeing the leather in this traditional way eliminates the need for heavy metal tanning and synthetic petrochemical dyes.

Taka footwear deconstructs and reinvents timeless unisex styles for a barefoot feel. Designs are engineered to be lightweight, sculpt to the foot and be used daily. All superfluous components have been removed.  Each item is designed to adapt to the wearer and evolve over time.

TAKA APPAREL

Taka Apparel was conceived as the soft-wear sibling to Taka Shoes. This capsule collection is based around unisex minimal wear for everyday chores, designed to form the basis of a high-functioning, functional wardrobe. 

The core collection works exclusively with 100% natural fibers of Linen or Wool in only 2 colors, Undyed and Black. Guest fabrics and colors rotate in seasonally. The emphasis is on Undyed colorways as this creates the least environmental impact. All the apparel items are handmade locally in Los Angeles by a single tailor, bypassing industrial production lines.

TAKA ACCESSORIES

Taka Hatting comprises the core of the accessory collection. While our leather accessories are made locally in Los Angeles, Taka Hats are the only items that are handmade by heritage artisans in Peru, the home country of Taka's founder. The Classic Artisan Hat utilizes traditional toquilla palm fronds that are micro-stripped to create ultra-lightweight, malleable headwear that transforms with use. These hats can be ordered as blanks in their natural Undyed colorway or custom-dyed by request.The handmade quality of these hats, woven without patterns or molds means that each one is truly unique unto itself.
