ABOUT

TAKA is a minimal, unisex line of footwear, hats & utilitarian tools.

HANDCRAFTED

Each pair of TAKA shoes is locally handcrafted through limited small runs and custom orders. Our cobblers have been trained in Europe but are based in Los Angeles, providing the precision and experience needed for crafting heritage shoes at a local level.

Taka hats are superfine, featherweight palm frond hats traditionally woven by women in the Peruvian Andes. Taka designer Kerry Clarkson Valdivia is British-Peruvian and has spent the majority of her adult life living & working with artisans in rural communities of Peru.

ECOLOGICAL

All TAKA products are processed naturally and biologically active, and their quality and character will increase over time.

TAKA footwear is made from vegetable-tanned vachetta leather. Vegetable tanning is a plant-based, ecological process that preserves the natural quality of leather, allowing the character to transform over time.

TAKA’s Undyed color develops a rich patina with use, darkening naturally from sunlight, moisture and wear patterns. Our Black & Umber color alternatives are dyed with plants, eliminating synthetic and petrochemical dyes.

100% free of chrome-tanning
